Vizio announces “death sentence” to its Plasma TV
Vizio – The new rise, Southern California-based which has been on its glorious days with the sucess of low prices HDTV has announced its discontinuing of its Plasma TV in order to pay all its investments to HDTV as a reaction to today’s economy.
There has been 2 bad news to Plasma TV in just a week. First, Pioneer has announced a discontinuing of its Plasma TV. Today, Vizio has just joined the list. And it seems the list will not just have 2 names.
With the announcement from Vizio, there are only 3 manufactures left in the market which still produce Plasma TV. They are LG, Panasonic, and Samsung. Actually, there is no surprise with this announcement because consumers tend to shop for HDTV than Plasma TV.
However, there is a conflict with the announcement of discontinuing in distribution of Plasma TV because, according to the New York Times, sales of Plasma TV increases 28% in the last quarter of 2008. In contrast, the numbers of HDTV sold decreases 2% in the same period.
According to research firms, Plasma TV will survive for at least a couple of years because Plasma TV, which produces higher quality, is the number one choice for those who have a home theater.
