4G Technology: Ericsson will reign supreme
While the mobile industry has been under huge pressure of the economic recession, Ericsson in contrary has been smiling for its success. The Stockholm-based mobile network developer has just concluded the deal with 2 major mobile service providers.
The great results for Ericsson’s recent efforts are the 2 billion-worth contracts with Verizon and China Unicom. In a press announcement, President and CEO of Ericsson, Carl-Henric Svanberg, emphasizes the deal with Verizon as “an important revolution” because there has been no business activity between each other. Svangberg adds, “Verizon needs a partner to develop in the next 20 years. And Ericsson is seeking for a chance to double our profits.”
Meanwhile, Ericsson’s competitors such as Nortel & Motorola are in financial problems. Nokia & Siemens is working on their merging processes. This will be a great chance for Ericsson to move forward and leave others behind.
According to Svanberg, the contract with Verizon can be considered as a “partnership of the 2 great minds”, and the contract will reveal the illusion about the future of the 4th mobile technology, known as Long Term Evolution or LTE.
In January, Ericsson succeeded in signing the 1.4-biliion contract with China Unicom in which Ericsson would develop 30% of the 3G network for this Chinese-based mobile service provider. Just like the deal with Verizon, the contract with Unicom can be considered as a “remarkable success” in which it will lift Ericsson to the next level in Chinese market.
Experts believe that Ericsson will be able to remain its success. Currently, Ericsson is the best mobile service management, and it is one of the top mobile technology developers in the world.
Svanberg concludes, “the contracts will make us become the best developer for the mobile network developing. And when the war in LTE begins, we have already had a strong foundation and best weapons.”
